In markets like Miami and Fort Lauderdale, most Mechanical Contractors do not have sheet metal fab shops and thus do not build the Duct. Instead, they sub out the fabrication of HVAC Ductwork to a Duct Fabricator. When the Ductwork is fabricated, the Mechanical picks it up and delivers it to the jobsite where they will then Hang, Connect (end to end) and Seal those connections (and any seams and duct wall penetrations) with mastic. While the fabrication of rectangular duct sections has become very automated over the past decade, the installation of this same rectangular duct has gone the other direction.
