Seal: SSL II®
SSL II provides a tight, reliable seal that fastens and installs without needing glue or staples. This means the SSL II provides a faster and easier closure system during installation. Owens Corning’s superior double adhesion closure system is designed specifically to work with Owens Corning’s ASJ Max jacket as the flap remains shut until installed minimizing jacket adhesion issues to the fiberglass pipe insulation during shipping and transport to the jobsite. Owens Corning’s superior double adhesion bond once installed strengthens over a 48 hour period, providing the industry’s best closure system.
Protect: ASJ Max
Unlike standard ASJ (with an exposed paper surface), Owens Corning ASJ Max has a polymer film exterior surface that’s durable, cleanable, and wrinkle-resistant. Ideal if you need to wipe off dirt and debris or install insulation where it might be exposed to weather during construction. ASJ Max accepts paint and mastic while not supporting mold growth (as tested in accordance with ASTM C1338).
Insulate: Flex and Rigid Core Insulation
Flexible inner core designed to easily compress over copper fittings and some small-bore iron pipes, eliminating the need to fillet. For larger, iron pipes the product is rigid making it easy to fillet and fabricate around fittings. Both products offer a tailored to fit solution. Maximum operating temperatures reach 1000 degrees Fahrenheit. Metric sizes are also available.
How to Fillet Insulation
Rigid Core Insulation
To fabricate around pipe fittings you’ll need to fillet your rigid core insulation by making two cuts in the insulation at the corresponding width of your fitting. Then select the thickness you want from the inside or outside and pull it out. This process is the same for both sides of the rigid core insulation.
Flex Core Insulation
For the flex core insulation the process is slightly different because of how the insulation is molded. Make two cuts in the insulation at the width of your fitting. Then slice between the two cuts at the outside of the insulation. Select the thickness you want and pull the insulation from the interior. This process is the same for both sides of the flex core insulation.
