PBF-510 Pinspotter

PBF-510 Pinspotter: a must for every shop making Roof Curbs

Then…

18 gauge Capacity

And now…

16 gauge Capacity

You’ve probably looked out your hotel room window or out the window of an airplane and seen large buildings with Flat Roofs that have dozens of HVAC Units situated on top. These HVAC Units are often very big and the weight they pose to the rooftop upon which they rest might seem a risk.

But, Look more closely and you’ll see that the units aren’t actually mounted to the Roof but instead to what appears from a distance to be an elevated stand or metal structure.

Herein lies a specialized niche of the Duct Fabrication Industry called Roof Curb Manufacturers that consume a massive percentage (possibly 50%) of the ENTIRE market of 1” Duct Liner and the 3/4” weld pins used with it.

With this information, two observations might come to mind: what is the thickness of metal used to support such weight and how does a manufacturer work on such a large object using weld pin machines like the Mach III or MF12A used by Duct Fabrication shops?

Duro Dyne’s answer has always been “a separate machine”, one designed specifically for this niche industry, an industry that uses 16 ga and 18 ga as a standard thickness whereas the capacity of the MF12A and Mach 3 is one thickness lighter at 20 gauge. The PBF510 is Duro Dyne’s first Pinspotter that has a weld capacity to 16 gauge. The PBFS-14 was rated at 18 gauge although it “could” and “did” do 16 gauge , albeit with a high % of pins that didn’t weld securely. What’s more, the PBF510 comes standard with a 16 Ft Gun Cable that can be extended to 24 ft without giving up any capacity, ideal to work around the often extra large Roof Curbs built in fab shops.
