3M™ Venture Tape™ UL181A-P Aluminum Foil Tape 1581A is a high temperature, high strength UL printed aluminum foil tape coated with an acrylic pressure sensitive adhesive that meets UL181A-P, UL181B-FX and ULC S102 specifications. Conformable foil is excellent for rigid duct board applications. The tape excels in a variety of temperatures and environmental conditions, including high temperatures.
Determining how many feet of Red Letter Tape is used on Ductboard Jobs based on Square Footage of Board:
On average, in commercial applications contractors use 14 lineal feet of red letter tape for every 40 sq. ft. of ductboard.
Residential applications it would be higher, using approximately 19 lineal feet of Red Letter Tape for every 28 sq ft of ductboard. This is because all of the supply and return plenums have to be taped together as well as taped to the furnace/air handler. And the mixing boxes (aka triangles) used have very little square footage of ductboard but have a lot of tape to hold them together.
These Ratios are accurate if the contractor is Grooving their own Ductboard Fittings. However in some markets, many contractors are buying the ductboard fittings like ductboard plenums and return air boxes from manufacturers already assembled.
