John Manville’s Spin Glass Unfaced Liner used for Insulation in double wall duct because a mat facing surface is not required. Unfaced Liner cost close to 40% less than standard Duct Liner. Double Wall Duct has two layers of Steel, an outer wall and an inner wall with the Insulation sandwiched in between the two. In standard single wall insulated duct, a mat facing is required on the side that is exposed to the air stream so as to protect from fibers coming off the Insulation and into the flow of air.
Used primarily for double wall round because, when it comes to rectangular, it is easier from a labor standpoint to use the faced Fiberglass Duct Liner off the Coil line and then insert the Perforated Steel inner wall.
Conklin stocks Type 150 which is the standard 1.5 lb density and the Type 100 which is 1.0 density.
