Spec Sheet
Installation Instructions
In many regions Ductboard is used as an alternative to traditional sheet metal ductwork on Light Commercial Jobs—from Residential New Construction to Multifamily projects like apartments and condos to Retail and Offices. It is a semi rigid Fiberglass 4 lb density 4 ft x 10 ft sheet that comes in 1″, 1-1/2″ and 2″ thick with a backing of scrim reinforced Aluminum Foil which serves as the exterior of the finished product.
The contractor uses a Grooving machine or special hand tools to cut out channels of the material that allows it to then be formed into a rectangle or square Duct.
For straight duct, the 4 foot wide width of the sheet becomes the length of the duct section and the 10 ft dimension will be cut according to the total girth of 4 sides of the duct.
Typically straight duct is Grooved to size by a Glassmaster SG-220 Machine, left flat and then skidded and sent to Jobsite for assembly in the field. The Fittings are sometimes shop made and sent to job assembled or even occasionally grooved and assembed from 4 x 10 sheets on the job.
In our Miami, Orlando and Mobile Alabama facilities, Conklin offers the service of Grooving the Straight Duct sections to size in the flat, then palletizing and shrink wrap so that the contractor can then assemble into a 4 sided Duct section on the jobsite.
Owens Corning QuietR Duct Board is a rigid, resin bonded fibrous glass board that may be used to fabricate components for indoor commercial and residential duct systems.
