The Pexto manually operated Crimp and Bead machine, a machine introduced a century ago, is used to crimp the ends of pipe so that one slides into another uncrimped part and a “stop” bead so that the mating fittings are lined up evenly. The machine comes with an upper and lower Ogee Bead rollset and an upper and lower Crimping Rollset. The Bead rolls are adjustable for deep or shallow beading. Spacing Collars are included so that the operator can bypass the bead rolls and instead just use for crimping.
Shops making ductwork aren’t the only ones using this machine. It’s common to see a 0581 24 ga Manual crimp/bead machine alongside a Pexto #381 3 ft 22 ga roller in a shop of an Insulation contractor. The Crimp & Bead Machine for the ends of aluminum pipe covering so that one end goes inside the other prior to taping the ends and the lap joint; the 3 ft roller for making half moon saddles for the water and gas pipe.
