Sandwich Style Access Doors for Rectangular Duct are often listed in engineer specifications on jobs with medium and high pressure ductwork or on negative pressure runs. These insulated doors come with a self adhering template to cut the hole and are equally as easy to install as they are to remove, when required for duct access.
Unlike the equal sided Square Framed Cammed and Hinged doors used on low pressure duct, these Sandwich style access doors are typically dimensioned in a rectangle.
The door size listed is always the opening that is to be cut in the duct. The physical door itself is always slightly bigger than the opening so it can sandwich the duct wall. This applies to Oval shaped doors that mount on round pipe and rectangular shaped doors that mount on flat duct. A 10 x 6 door has an opening of 10 x 6, but physically the door size is 12 x 8. A 12 x 8 will measure 14 x 10 on the actual physical dimensions.
