The most common Access Door for Round Duct is the Sandwich style contoured one.
Often listed on engineering specs and quoted out in the Air Distribution package, these insulated doors come with a self adhering template to cut the hole and are easy to install on Spiral Duct and just as easy to remove, when required for duct cleaning or other access.
The door size listed is always the opening that is to be cut in the duct. The physical door itself is always slightly bigger than the opening so it can sandwich the duct wall. This applies to Oval shaped doors that mount on round pipe and rectangular shaped doors that mount on flat duct. A 10 x 6 door has an opening of 10 x 6, but physically the door size is 12 x 8. A 12 x 8 will measure 14 x 10 on the actual physical dimensions.
